Wicked No Longer Playing in Pantages

January 14th, 2009
Wicked's Grande Finale in Pantages Theatre

Wicked's Grande Finale in Pantages Theatre

After running shows for nearly two years in Pantages Theatre, it’s sad to announce that as of January 11, 2009, Wicked is no longer playing in Los Angeles.

On the bright side, they did go out with quite a memorable performance.  Broadway’s last two Wicked shows starred Eden Espinosa and Megan Hilty, LA’s original cast members for Elphaba and Glinda respectively.

Pantages Theatre goers are advised not to worry.  Although Wicked has left, The Phantom of the Opera is coming back with a bang ( after its ten-year absence) on January 21, 2009.  In addition, Rent, Dirty Dancing, Grease, Fiddler on the Roof, Legally Blonde: The Musical,  and ‘Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas, will all make a home out of Pantages Theatre for the remainder of 2009.  Unfortunately, LA’s Wicked fans are  going to have to travel a little farther to see their favorite characters this year.  On January 27, 2009, Wicked will step foot onto Orpheum Theatre’s stage, in San Francisco.
